An Organ Recital by Jamie Rogers, the Festival’s first bursary recipient and often heard as a jazz pianist. Now studying the organ at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Jamie gives his first Festival Organ Recital, including in his dance-inspired programme Edwin H. Lemare’s spectacular transcription of Saint-Saëns’
Danse macabre, Op 40.

Paul Edlin’s Simple Gifts was commissioned by the London Chamber Orchestra for their 2017 education programme ‘Music Junction’. It brings together professional musicians and local community musicians to explore the sciences through a range of dramatic musical devices – from the invention of Edison’s light bulb to NASA in space and Voyager’s Golden Record. ‘Simple Gifts’ uses the famous Shaker melody used in Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring.
Tonight’s concert is given by New Sounds together with Bold As and Jazz Journey participants.
